Director
Jessica graduated from the Honours Bachelor in Behavioural Psychology program at St. Lawrence College in Kingston in 2017. She previously worked at a private intensive behavioural intervention program for young children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. She also has 5 years work experience in a summer daycare program for children 3.5 to 12 years old.
In Jessica's spare time, she enjoys skating, crocheting, and baking. Jessica joined the KAFRC family in 2017. |
Program Supervisor / Pedagogical Leader
Sonya graduated from Nova Scotia Teacher’s College with an Associate in Education in 1989 and St Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Education in 1990. Sonya has worked with various school boards, child care centres and spent a number of years as a home child care provider while her 2 children were younger. During her time with KAFRC, Sonya has had the opportunity of working in all of the programs. She has been with KAFRC for the past 22 years.
In Sonya's spare time, she enjoys being an Officer with the local Sea Cadet Corps here in Kemptville. Sonya joined the KAFRC family in 1999. |

Bailey graduated with honours in the Early Childhood Education program at Algonquin College in 2018. Growing up in the community she volunteered at her local school and fire department.
In Bailey's spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and being outdoors. Bailey joined the KAFRC family in 2019. |
Pedagogical leader |
Jessica graduated from the ECE program at Algonquin College in 2008 and has worked in the field for over 13 years. She has experience with children 18 months to 5 years old. She was a parent at KAFRC before joining the team as an educator. Jessica is passionate about learning new ways to enrich the lives of children.
In her spare time she likes to crochet, knit, sew and spend time with her family. Jessica joined the KAFRC family in 2022. |
Administrative Assistant
Lauren graduated from Early Childhood Education at Algonquin College in 2018, and is our office administrator. Lauren has enjoyed working with a variety of all age groups, and you may see her in a program when she is not in the office.
In Lauren’s free time, she can be found hanging with her chickens, niece and nephew, enjoying the outdoors, and cooking her favourite recipes for her family and friends. Lauren joined the KAFRC family in 2021. |
CULINARY artist
Aspen graduated from the Early Childhood Education program at Algonquin College in 2023. Aspen completed two co-op placements in the Infant and Toddler programs and gained experience as she worked two summers with us, at KAFRC. She loves working with children and is exploring her options to further her education.
In Aspen's spare time, she enjoys reading, sewing, cooking, and spending time outdoors and with her family. Aspen joined the KAFRC family in 2019. |
Educators
Colleen graduated from Carleton University in 1995, receiving her B.A. in English and Psychology. She also graduated from Algonquin College in 1997, receiving her Early Childhood Education Diploma. Colleen has worked in every program KAFRC offers, gaining experience with all age groups. Colleen volunteers at her daughter's school and spends any spare time with her family here in Kemptville.

Karen graduated from St. Lawrence College in 1989, receiving her Early Childhood Education Diploma; she has over 24 years’ experience working with children. Previously, Karen has worked at the 1000 Island Daycare in Gananoque and the Brockville YM-YWCA Childcare Centre. In recent years she has provided homecare for families in the Merrickville area while raising her own family.

Megan graduated with honours from the Early Childhood Education program at Algonquin College in 2017. Being one of five siblings and working in the community have helped Megan gain experience with children and their families.
In Megan's spare time, she enjoys photography and graphic design, building and creating, and being outdoors. Megan joined the KAFRC family in 2017. |
Courtney received her advanced diploma in Child and Youth Care from St. Lawrence College in Kingston in 2017. For the past 5 years she has been working in the child care field.
In Courtney's spare time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her friends and family. Courtney joined the KAFRC family in 2019. |
Sabrina graduated from Canadore College in 2019. She discovered her love for taking care of children during her high school co-op.
In her spare time Sabrina enjoys painting, making crafts with her cricut for her family and friends and spending time with her loved ones. Sabrina joined the KAFRC family in 2020. |
Marie graduated with honors from the Child and Youth Worker program at St. Lawrence College in 2016. After she graduated, she worked 5 years in mental health and addictions.
Marie's dream job has always been to work with children. She enjoy crafting, baking, and running her side business but most of all being a step mom. Marie joined the KAFRC family in 2020 |
Kristen graduated from the Child and Youth Worker program at Algonquin College in 1993. She continued her education and received her Early Childhood Education Diploma from Algonquin College in 1997.
Kristen has worked in various daycares and nursery schools over the years and ran her own home daycare for 17 years. Kristen enjoys sensory play and crafting with children. In Kristen's spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, scrapbooking and serves as a Commissioned Officer with her local Cadet Corp. Kristen joined the KAFRC family in 2020. |
Mackyla is currently taking early childhood education at Algonquin College. Mackyla will graduate at the end of August 2023. Mackyla knew from a very young age that she wanted to work with children. During Mackyla’s grade 12 year she did a placement in the toddler program at KAFRC, this confirmed her love for working with children. After Mackyla graduated high school, she worked in our preschool program for the summer. She loved the daycare centre so much she decided to come back in 2022. In Mackyla’s spare time she likes going to concerts, festivals, traveling, and spending time with loved ones.

Zoe graduated from St. Lawrence College in 2023, with honours, from the Early Childhood Education program. she worked in both school and childcare settings during her post secondary placements. Zoe has always known she wanted to work with children, watching her sister become an ECE inspired her to do the same. She loves spending time with her family and friends, during the summer months Zoe loves to be outside and going for walks. One of Zoe's favourite things is giving the children 'blessings' at nap time and teaching them about gratitude.

Jordan is currently enrolled at Carleton for Childhood and Youth Studies with hopes in becoming a children’s therapist or primary school teacher! She has always wanted a career in working with children. Before joining the KAFRC family, Jordan was a nanny for different families. In Jordans spare time, she loves travelling, concerts and many outdoor activities such as fishing, and spending time at her cottage!

Alison graduated from North Grenville District High School in 2022 and is a former cadet from the local Sea Cadet Corps. She discovered her love for teaching and childcare through her involvement in mentoring youth hockey, teaching at cadets and babysitting for family and friends. In Alison's spare time she enjoys sports, spending time with friends, video games, knitting and watching movies.

Katie graduated from St. Michael Catholic High School in 2023 and is currently taking a gap year. Katie plans to attend Bishops University in the fall of 2024 for concurrent education to become a teacher. In her spare time she enjoys playing hockey and hanging out with my friends.

Wendy graduated from College of the North Atlantic in 2005 with a diploma in Early Childhood Education in St Johns Newfoundland. Over this past 15 years she has worked in a variety of programs, as well as owning a family home childcare center. In her spare time, Wendy loves to spend time with her family and enjoy the outdoors.

Yasmin graduated from the American University in Cairo in 2010 with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts, specializing in Teaching Children Art. Her passion for working with children led her to various roles in childcare and schools. Outside of work, she cherishes time with her husband and two children. She also enjoys crafting, traveling, and exploring new destinations.
Yasmin joined the KAFRC family in 2023. Amanda graduated from St.Lawrence College with honours in the Social Service Worker program in 2023. She has always been super passionate about helping others. Amanda is planning on getting her ECE for a future career with children!
In her spare time, Amanda loves spending time with family and friends as well as spending time outside, exploring new places. Amanda joined the KAFRC Team in 2023. Hayley graduated with honours in the Early Childhood Education program at Algonquin College in May of 2023. She has just over 5 years of experience working within childcare settings.
In her spare time, Hayley enjoys being in the outdoors, partaking in activities such as four wheeling, fishing, and camping. Most of all, Hayley enjoys spending time with my friends and family. Hayley Joined the KAFRC Team in 2022. |
